Silicon Steel

Silicon Steel (Electric Steel)
Rolled silica sheets are sheets of metal that have been rolled or formed to a specific shape or size. They are typically made from a type of steel with a high silicon content, which gives the steel enhanced electrical and magnetic properties.
Silicon sheets can be rolled into a variety of shapes and sizes depending on and the specific application.

Usage areas
It is specially designed to have low electrical resistance and high magnetic permeability, making it ideal for use in such electrical components. Electrical steel is typically made from low carbon steel that is alloyed with silicon, manganese, and other elements to improve its electrical and magnetic properties.
Some common applications for electric steel include:
transformers
Inductors
electric motors
Other electrical components: Electrical steel is also used to make other electrical components such as generators, magnetic shielding, and electromagnetic coils.

Pafta Mühendislik’s Siliceous Sheet Types

A. Non-Grain Oriented Silicon Steel Sheet
B. Grain Oriented Silicon Steel Sheet
A. Non-Grained Silicon Steel Sheet
Non-oriented electrical steel has silicon levels ranging from 0.5% to 3.25% Si and has uniform magnetic properties in all directions. Non-grain oriented silicon steel sheet is widely used in the construction of electrical components such as transformers and electric motors where the direction of the magnetic field is not important.
Applications:
• In the manufacturing industry
• In the construction industry
• In mechanical productions
• Household appliances and Metal furniture
• In the automotive industry
• Lighting/Plumbing fixtures
B. Grain Oriented Silicon Steel Sheet
Oriented electric steel refers to cold-rolled Electric Steel containing 2.9% ~ 3.5% Si, and the crystal structure of the plate has a certain regularity and direction. Grain oriented silica sheet is an indispensable soft magnetic material in the energy industry, mainly used in transformers, rectifiers, reactors and large motor industries in transformers and electric motors, where the direction of the magnetic field is important. In the form of laminated, wound or punched sheets, it is the basic core material of distribution transformers, power transformers and small transformers.
Applications:
• Large power transformers
• Distribution transformers
• Small transformers
• Current transformers
• Shunt reactors
• Wound cores
• Power generators
