TIMBER

Timber
Timber is a wooden material, the raw material of which is wood, cut from logs of certain sizes, used in buildings, industry and many other fields. Timber is the wood that is cut and cut for use in the construction industry and made ready for processing and kept waiting. Wood rots in the constant presence of moisture and oxygen. The strength, hardness, nail and paint holding ability of dried timber increases. That’s why they make the timbers kiln dried and dried. The world’s leading timber producing countries are the USA, Canada, China, Brazil and Germany.
Balsa tree, which is among the strongest trees in the world, is a tree that grows in Central and South America. Although balsa is strong and durable, it is an easily processed wood. It even has a more durable form than the extremely durable oak tree.
Waterproof Wood Products include white oak and teak. They are also long-lived trees that are resistant to warping, rotting, cracking or warping. These dense woods don’t need much maintenance and have a natural ability to repel rot, moisture and insects.

Usage areas
Depending on the characteristics of the timber, the usage areas also change. Each Timber can be made in many different areas such as interior decoration, construction, building materials, furniture making, depending on its characteristics. Timber is still used in the construction of wooden houses and in sections such as floors, doors, frames, scaffolding and windows. The number of things that can be made and made from wood is very large. For this reason, people always need timber throughout their lives.
Timber Types
In general, we can divide lumber into two types based on wood weight and density:

a) Timbers made of hardwoods
Lumber from hardwood species is most commonly used for furniture, flooring, wood moldings and thin veneers. Woods used in these areas include Oak, maple, birch, walnut, beech, mahogany, balsa, teak and alder.

b) Timbers made of softwood
These trees often have needles and cones, so they are known as conifers, like spruce or pine trees. Other examples of softwood trees include cedar, Douglas fir, juniper, redwood, cypress, and larch.

Oak Timber
Oak tree is a very long-lived tree and its average lifespan is 400 years. The oak tree, which needs a lot of water, can be easily grown in rainy areas. The timber of this tree is very durable. Oak wood is a type of wood that can be easily cut and processed. It is a tree species that usually has a length of 25 meters and is not easily affected by bad weather conditions because it has a strong and durable structure.
Hard oak is generally used in exterior and interior parts of buildings, doors, windows, stairs, flooring, parquet. Soft oaks are seen in furniture production, interior parts of buildings and decoration applications. It is preferred in joinery, shipping, bridge and pier construction. If the oak is not hard and soft, it mostly depends on where it is grown.
Beech Timber
Beech tree The dry branches and leaves of these trees, which can live for 700 years on average, are a source of healing. The beech tree can grow up to approximately 40 meters. It is a fruity tree that grows in moist soils and has leaves like tassels. Beech wood, which has a medium hardness, has a solid structure. This timber is light colored, uniformly porous, scratch resistant, and accepts varnish very well. It has a high level of turning and steaming and bending properties are much better.
It has a wider usage area than other leafy trees. Timber is often preferred in the furniture industry. In addition, tool handles are preferred in different areas such as carpentry benches, sandals and oven shovels. While it is also used in the construction of toys, cars, crates and plywood, it is also a preferred tree in the construction of parquet. In general, it is one of the important raw materials of timber.
Walnut Timber
It is a fast growing tree variety that grows up to 25 and 40 meters in height. It covers a large area. It can cover an area of 300 to 500 m2. Walnut timber has a fibrous structure and is quite heavy. Generally walnut tree; It is durable up to -25°C’, +38°C’. The outer shell is yellow and gray, the belly part varies from light milky brown to dark brown.
It holds the Walnut Timber very firmly with nails and screws. It is easily split and easily processed. This timber, which is preferred in interior architecture and classical furniture, should only be processed by a skilled and experienced hand. Walnut timber is widely used in furniture, auto interior design, door and weapon industries.
Linden Timber
Linden tree, which grows very fast, is a tree species belonging to the linden family. It is among the majestic trees of Anatolia with its height of 30 meters. It has the characteristics of mature wood. It dries well and fairly quickly, although it has a tendency to warp a little. It should be dried slowly for good results. It is less resistant and susceptible to fungi and insects. It is easily impregnated.

Linden is a tree species that is less resistant to physical effects. For this reason, it can be easily processed. It is less resistant to screws or nails used on it. It gives a good result when glued; but difficult to varnish. It is used in the production of beehive skeleton, hat molds, musical instruments, as a resonance table, piano, harp, toys, flat brush handles, turnery.
Teak (Teak) Timber
This tree, which is 30 to 45 meters tall on average, has mostly orange and caramel colors. Teak wood has a tight fibrous and oily texture. Thanks to this feature, teak woods do not infestation and do not harbor worms. Teak is a type of tree that can withstand all weather conditions and cannot be worn out by years, so it is among the valuable and expensive trees worldwide.
Teak Timber is a commercial wood as it is used in veneers. This timber is resistant to external conditions and decay, so it can be easily used in outdoor furniture and outdoor products. Teak timbers have the ability to come into contact with water, especially they can be resistant to sea water for many years. It is widely used in shipbuilding, exterior cladding, furniture and garden sets production around the world. It is possible to use it for a long time with the maintenance to be made on the wood at certain intervals.
Iroko Timber
The iroko tree is a tree species that grows in African rainforests and can reach 130 meters in height. Iroko wood is water resistant and thus can be used for many years compared to other trees. Since it contains oil, it does not hold water and thus does not produce bacteria. When the Iroko tree is cut while it is wet, the trunk resin seeps into the cut area and hardens. This substance creates a glass-like surface and prevents rotting.
Iroko, which is resistant to natural conditions such as water, humidity and sun, is a type of wood used in parquet, boats, yachts, ships and decks, and especially preferred in outdoor furniture due to these properties.

Poplar Timber

Poplar trees ranging in height from 10 to 20 meters begin to bloom in March-April. The life span of this tree does not exceed 170 years. Stream edges and filled lands are ideal places for poplar trees. We can say that it is a tree that loves damp places. The most common types of poplar are known as cypress poplar, black poplar, aspen, and gray poplar.

Although the poplar tree is not used directly in furniture production, it can be processed and used in many different places due to the fact that it undergoes so many changes when it dries. These wood species can be preferred at different stages of furniture production. Thick diameter poplars are often valued in the veneer and plywood industry. Poplar wood is used in making matches. In addition, poplar wood is widely used in the production of turntables, packing boxes, barrels for dry materials, and chipboard and particle-fiber boards.

Pine Timber

Being the only evergreen tree species, pines, like other trees, keep their leaves fresh in autumn and are always green in summer and winter. Another feature is that it is long-lasting and durable. It also has needles and its own product, the cone. Thanks to its durable structure, it can live in any climate. It is a tree species that can reach 40 meters in height and can easily live up to 200 years.

Thanks to its durable wood structure, its timber is used in the furniture industry. Pine gum is produced from the resin produced by the pine tree itself. It can be used in interior and exterior cladding, veneer, plywood, carving, turning, wire pole, mine pole, in-water construction and as sleeper. It can be used in buildings, doors, windows, joinery, bridge construction, aircraft and ship deck flooring, wherever wood material can be used. This timber is easy to work, well glued, has good elasticity, can be painted and polished, also holds nails well and can be coloured.

Spruce Timber

The average life span of spruce trees is about 400 years. Although it has a smooth body and variegated color and is generally resistant to cold, it likes sunny environments. Blue spruce, one of the different varieties of the spruce tree, is among the most interesting trees with its color. The spruce tree, which grows in places with rainy and cool climates in the Northern Hemisphere, is a very important tree like every plant, thanks to its contributions to nature and human life.

Timber, furniture, construction, etc. Spruce timber, which is used as intermediate and finished products in the sectors, is a very light and easy to process wood type. It has high polishing and screwing ability. Spruce wood Dries quickly and well, less prone to cracking. This lumber is often used in interior carpentry and joinery, musical instruments, peeling veneer in plywood making, board manufacture, etc. used in the fields.
